Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit.

Self-defeating at the end of the day, but they figure their day is long. My bet is the lawyers who cave to Trump will feel the backlash much sooner than they expect — and that the lawyers who step up will be rewarded in this world, not just in the next.
