🇯🇵 Japan showed the same pattern.

When people felt these emotions, anger led to direct aggression, disgust to indirect aggression.

When they heard these emotions from others, they made inferences the same way.

💡 Across countries, we found that knowledge of negative externalities (compared with ignorance) robustly increased prosociality.

Guilt-prone individuals were more responsive to information about the negative consequences of their actions.

Observability by strangers only had negligible effects.
