Likewise, if you are Progressive and don't make room for those more centrist than you, you have the same problem. A big tent means there aren't a lot of litmus tests. A few (the -isms for example) but not many.

We have lost the idea that every right you have comes with a corresponding responsibility, usually more than one. A right to free speech comes with the responsibility to support the free speech right if other as well as the right to choose what you say carefully. The right to vote is the same.
