And they're usually defending genAI, which doesn't take much skill to operate. Expertise to eval outcomes, sure, but prompt writing is pretty basic.

As if most of those biz leaders have any clue what AI is, can articulate genAI vs other types of AI, or have any real idea about what skills new grad hired need to do most jobs. But HE leaders keep pandering to these clueless yappers also known for BTW dictates and layoffs for shareholder value.

Here is UW - Madison's budget. Our <largest> funder is the federal government. 25%. It used to be the state. Either way, the university in its current form ceases to exist if these federal cuts really happen. But The. Public. Doesn't. Know. This. And our leaders are absent from the public debate.

I'm concerned the combination of the precedent set in 2008 and the recent AI Action Plan will mean obscene money will flow from the Fed (our tax $) to keep shoring up those corps preventing or stalling the collapse.

There's been plenty of thought on the part of those trying to capture market share and impose their future on everyone. But yes, unconscionable that the watchdogs and gatekeepers are enablers of the predators.
