I grew up in southern Arizona, lived the last twenty years in rural Nevada, and I have to say the culture is entirely different. AZ is SW and Hispanic culture is prominent, but NV is about cowboys, gamblers, and gold miners. It's the Intermountain West, between the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada.

This is beautiful. I grew up blue collar, and it touched me deeply. Thank you for sharing it.

I made zucchini bread, fed cull tomatoes to the chickens, and sat out in the evening watching the clouds and listening to your kinfolk singing in the hills. Probably singing about my chickens, but I understand that. It was a good day. I hope yours was as well.

Not yet quite a senior citizen, but I appreciate you, Coyote. Very much. I hope the voles are fat and plentiful today.

Happily married for 38 years to a man an inch shorter than me. Height is not this boy's problem. "Bitchless" on the other hand...

I've just downloaded my eagerly anticipated copy of Stone and Sky. Not thrilled that I have work in the morning, but I know how I'll be spending my breaks. Thanks!

I'm just saying he's really bad at pretending to be human. I wouldn't want to insult any actual aliens.

This is exactly the sort of dialog you'd get in a B movie where the alien comedically fails to convince the humans that he's one of them.

This is an unexpected convergence of two very different corners of my online ecosystem, but I'm here for it.

This gives me a new appreciation of the Borgia pope.

When hundreds of thousands of Americans are working in iPhone factories for $2.88/hr (what they pay in China), will we also get the universal healthcare, housing, pensions, etc. or will we just huddle under a bridge until we die of a disease we used to have a vaccine for? We need to ask about that.

At least they are finally leaving Dolly alone.

So, only things that RFK JR has directly experienced himself are real or valid? This seems wildly problematic for... everyone who is not him.

Huh. I'm pretty sure I remember some guy, frolicking around a stage with a giant chainsaw, celebrating firing me. I took that pretty personally too, so... go get 'em, Tim.

It's the little elastic ankle-pockets that really make the look.
