Dugan Darnell, 28, is from Northville and pitched at Adrian College. He debuted with Colorado last season. Lange, former Tigers' closer, made it back to the big leagues for one game last season after recovering from lat surgery. He was arbitration eligible.
The Tigers today claimed RHP Dugan Darnell off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Alex Lange has been designated for assignment.

There’s always the push-and-pull. Sluggers get paid. Asking them to shorten swings and just put balls in play can be a tough sell. Until you get into the playoffs and those A-swings get exposed like they did for the Tigers in the ALDS…story
