I understand that Debate Club can be empowering for students uncomfortable with public speaking, but adults really should be past thinking debate is effective in determining the truth about a subject.

To be clear, I think this is a bad policy idea that doesn’t really solve the problem of eliminating the ACA premium subsidy.

Better in that more people are eligible for the full deduction, worse in that it just saves the taxpayer whatever their tax on $25K would be, which is clearly way less than a full $25K.

Reading the article, looks like it’s a deduction from gross income in addition to the Standard Deduction, rather than a deduction from taxes withheld.

Dude’s definitely losing it, but “slowing up” was a pretty common way of saying the same thing as “slowing down” when I was growing up in the Northeast.
