Staffers, including Tyler Hassen and Bryton Shang, urged the acting head of the Bureau of Reclamation to open the Jones Pumping Plant in California. However, even if the pumps had been turned on, they would not have affected the fires, as the system does not supply water directly to Los Angeles.
