I'm going to continue to call my Senators and make demands of them, but this whole thing is fairly distressing. Makes me want to go buy a 10 acre farm in the middle of a desert somewhere and try to make a human sized terrarium. I refuse to give up though, I'm here for the long haul, come what may.

I already called his office and called my Senators and told them to vote to remove him as leader and to vote not to use any funds they have any say on to help any of the Senators who supported this bill the next time they are up for reelection and to stay out of in any primary against them.

Trump isn't playing 4D chess, Senate Democrats aren't playing 4D chess. No one is playing 4D chess. There's not even a 4D chessboard anywhere in sight. It's just poverty and medical disaster from here as far as the eye can see.

Time to start founding more mutual aid groups I guess?

"Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make." -Farquad and I guess, Chuck Schumer, probably?

If this situation makes my wife much angrier, she might go from begging me not to run for public office to actually encouraging it!

If all the Progressive's leave the Democratic party, who will be left to vote in the primaries? Do you think that will make things better? The dream of starting a third major party closer to their political preferences is a dream on both sides and it's just not realistic at this point.

This is a disaster for everyone who relies on healthcare. It will make it more expensive for everyone, cause unnecessary death, cause rural hospitals to close, make health insurance more expensive for companies, giving them more reason to replace you with AI, the list is endless.
November 10, 2025 at 2:15 AM
Neither of mine voted for this terrible idea. So that's good. I assume it will manage to pass the house as well, but if a few Republicans there have some issue with it for whatever reason, maybe it won't, but I'm not optimistic on that.
November 10, 2025 at 2:12 AM
With the Medicaid cuts from the OBBB and now not funding the ACA subsidies, the number of hospitals that are going to have to close in rural areas is going to go up a ton more even than previously assumed. This is going to be a healthcare disaster for anyone who doesn't live in or near a city.

It's also why state reps tend to be so much older too. Younger people, and therefore people who generally are not as economically stable, cannot afford to quit their job to run for office and potentially run up a lot of debt on the hopes of getting elected to a job that pays $37,000/year.

This reminds me of when I travel my wife locates every local coffee and ice cream place and we go and sample them all. At home I just make coffee with an aero press which I have been informed is way better than anything people have had at Starbucks.

So many adversarial nations benefit when there's internal American discord and we're just making it so easy for them.

This is like being a survivor of the Titanic and refusing rescue because some passengers have already drowned.

Oh man, I remember printing the most amazing birthday cards on that. That doesn't make me old right?
November 5, 2025 at 5:28 PM
It's going to cost ten times more money and take many times longer to put all this back together when someone better winds up in office. This is just Trump fighting the general concept of knowing things and being curious about the universe because he dislikes those things himself.

The purpose of pods is to prevent people in your household, who mean well but cannot be convinced otherwise, from completely filling the entire dispenser with detergent every time they use the dishwasher.

It makes the advice of "don't resist" a lot harder because it also goes contrary to the kidnapping advice of "never allow yourself to be taken to another location" So what do you do? Fight to the death in case they are going to sexually assault and murder you or be passive in case they are ICE?
November 5, 2025 at 5:15 PM
I guess we're just supposed to not resist being assaulted ever in fear of it being an ICE agent. That sounds like a great opportunity for the criminal class to be able to commit crimes with impunity. If you claim to be ICE can you also rob stores? Commit fraud? Steal cars? Where does it end?

As a potential future political candidate, I would just like to say "When the Moon hits your eye" by John Scalzi was an excellent read and I highly recommend it to all my constituents and hope that they will enjoy it as much as they will enjoy voting for me!

I could have bought one with the built in softener and probably would have except it only came with a bunch of expensive custom options I didn't want at the time. Well, now, two years later, I would have liked those, but I'm not going to buy a new dishwasher just so it matches my new countertops.
November 4, 2025 at 11:57 PM
The dishes get clean, but they, and the dishwasher itself, slowly get covered in scale, which makes the heating element less functional and eventually starts clogging things in the dishwasher itself. It's what broke my previous one, but it's better since I started using detergent for hard water.
November 4, 2025 at 11:55 PM
What are your thoughts on how to make your new detergent work better with very hard water? Add a little bit of softener salt to the detergent? Have a little salt for the pre-wash? Anything in your research you didn't talk about in the video that might give me some insight?

You seem very stressed by your working conditions there. Maybe you should take this as a sign to just take it easy today and go for a walk or read a book.

My state had one election, for a special election in a district I don't live. I feel your pain, everyone else around the country is super excited about voting and I don't even have anything I can go vote for!

Don't you threaten me with a good time New York uber-wealthy!
November 3, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Violence is quick, flashy and destructive. If you actually want to accomplish something in the long term you need to build systems that make people feel more secure in their place in society, not try to shoot your way out of the problems that we have created for ourselves.
