Blessed Epiphany! Friendly reminder to Bless your home! Our toddler was so excited to be able to draw a Cross next to the door (she can’t do letters or numbers quite yet - but she is looking forward to getting to help more next year!)

Advent is halfway through, and it seems like it just started! We were blessed to have a family weekend getaway where we could visit with extended family and relax. The girls enjoyed playing with cousins, and it was nice to catch up with the family in a non-rushed manner!

The girls woke to find Mother Mary had hung the stockings! I find it soothing to have only the fire and Christmas lights illuminating the family room in the evening. Do you ever just sit there and take it all in? Contemplate the waiting of Advent?

The sky has been gray with nonstop drizzle/rain for the last several days. The dreary weather started to tank moods, so a fun change was in order! I packed the girls up and went to McDonald’s. One happy meal and a happily exhausted toddler later, we went home and I had to carry her inside for a nap.

Mother Mary needed to rest - it is quite taxing being pregnant and preparing for the birth of Jesus! My toddler was quite happy to learn that even Mother Mary needs quiet time and naps. How do you take time for quiet during this busy season?

St. Nicholas visited on his way to his feast day Mass on Friday - the girls found their shoes filled and that Mary had helped! We then went to Mass and St. Nicholas made a surprise appearance at the breakfast afterward hosted by the Knights of Columbus.

Before bed, the girls put their shoes under the tree eagerly awaiting St. Nicholas/Santa’s visit tonight on his way to Mass for his feast day. My toddler hopes he will read the letter detailing the gifts she would like him to bring on Christmas Day in celebration of Jesus’ birth!

The kids found Mary folding hand-me-downs for Jesus. Every person has inherent dignity and we are called to look and care for our brothers and sisters in Christ as if it were Jesus himself standing in their place. There are many ways that we can do corporal works of mercy - how will you this season?

Our family is doing Mary on the Mantel for Advent (similar concept to Elf on the Shelf, but Catholic). We are following along in the Hallow app and my daughter is absolutely loving finding Mary is in the house and what she is doing each morning to prepare for Jesus!
