I had like five messages about the Manichaeans written up before realizing it’s not worth spamming replies to say all that, so instead I just recommend looking them up and look at this scroll of theirs.

Just to actually show some evidence, the throwing spears were quite long, and barbed, with a purposeful “stop” carved in at the point below the barbs to add impact due to the weight behind the spear head.
