Rated 4/5 Prefacing that I had a lot of fun with this book, it helped me get back into reading, & I would absolutely recommend this to those who READ THE TAGS & are fine with them. Were going to start with positives. I adored the main two characters in a “god you SUCK” kind of way, especially when it came to Piper. There were several times where he said something that I out loud said “whats your deal?.” He’s childish in nature, does what he wants because he can, & when you think hes starting to humanize himself, he flips the script on you. Hes so endearing to me in the worst way possible. Rehan, without spoiling, reminds me a lot of Chirin (Chirin no Suzu or Ringing Bell). He starts off a deeply traumatized man & you watch that change based on Piper’s influence. The intrapersonal conflicts the two have on their own which affect their interpersonal conflicts work SO well & i was able to get attched to these characters, despite as i said before, theyre AWFUL. Before I get into my critiques, I do want to address some of the critiques left by others here. One, this book includes noncon. Several people seem surprised by this but when I bought the book in person, TD Cloud had warnings in front of the book, her website has warnings for the book, the amazon listing has warnings for the book. So im just going to repeat in one more place, there is noncon in the book. The warnings arent a decoration, & theyre easy to find, even if they arent In the book. If you do like noncon.. its hot. On THAT note though, it youre here for inly problematic smut, this isnt that either. Theres one full sex scene, & two suggestive scenes. If you cant read a book because there isnt enough spice, I can’t help you with that. So if a book having a plot bothers you, i guess I cant recommend this book? Weird thing to rate a book low for though. For my critiques, the ending feels really quick, & i wish we spent a little more time on, without spoiling anything, the moment Rehan’s perspective begins to switch. It felt really abrupt, & i wouldve love to see that explored more in depth. The plotline with the children also gets brought up so infrequently during the middle of the book, I was forgetting that it was the reason they met until Rehan brought it back up. I wish it wouldve been more of a force of guilt & confict during the middle of the book, especially comsidering how its unsed in the climax. I definitely had a lot of fun with it & will be recommending it to ppl who I know wont mind (or maybe even like) that the smut part of the book is noncon. Also planning to read more from the author!
