I'll be honest, I enjoyed reading about the Foxes more, but that isn't a knock. I think the follow up is very lovingly written, but the slower pace has me immediately wanting me to reread the story of the Foxes to be honest

I enjoyed this. Gender is tricky. This book talks about that tricky muckiness in a way that felt purposeful. Some of the ways didn't sit with me well, others did, and I think that's purposeful too.
