As someone who quite believes everyone should read Stoppard as part of their basic education, I find this both fascinating and inspiring.
I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

High tide is coming in but the #yachatswhale seems to be rolling towards shore not out to see. Despite all this, seeing the amazing community come together to try and help has restored a little of my faith in humanity today.

The #yachatswhale made it through the night with volunteer support. The next test will be what happens at this mornings high tide.

The #yachatswhale is still beached. Locals are deploying, people are packing up to drive hours and help it survive low tide at 2am. The fishing line is cut, a whale expert will be there at first light, high tide is 9:30am. Hang in there brave humpback.

I am incredibly stressed about the beached whale in Yachats, Oregon tonight and the limited number of scientists left around to help it.
