Wouldn’t want to be those Guinea pigs - if the xenon blend doesn’t work, taking a heli straight to base camp with no acclimatisation could be v unpleasant, let alone missing out on one of the most glorious trekking experiences in the world from Lukla

There’s also lots of factors, the influence (direction/strength) of the wind (wildfire events are wind events) embers, smoke damage, human ignition sources, big influence of neighbouring property characteristics on the risk to your home… would agree wildfire is one of the hardest perils to model

Yes, shows the need for holistic flood management approach- with good forecasts, water in dams can be partially released prior to heavy rains, as recently in Central Europe, where they had been holding water due to the summer drought. Plus “dry dams” apnews.com/article/pola...
