All griefs are not similar, all grief is not predictable, all grief is not by the book, and your grief is not mine, writes Elissa Ely in @cogwbur.bsky.social. www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/...

“I’ve walked every day for 12 years” (love this piece by Libby DeLana— especially wise at the beginning of the year, as we set our intentions for 2025.)

I am not a math person! But Ismar Volic, the author of a book called “Making Democracy Count” and the founder of Wellesley’s Institute for Mathematics and Democracy, has some interesting ideas about democratic reform -- through math. www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/...

Dr. Jim O'Connell, the Boston doctor profiled in Tracy Kidder's latest book, "Rough Sleepers," is a wonderful storyteller. Turns out he sees a profound relationship between being a keeper of people's stories + providing care. www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/...

I am one of these insane people that swims in Walden Pond all year around. I started during the pandemic -- when I couldn't feel anything -- and just kept going.

I nearly got frost bite whilst reporting this piece! www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/...

I talked to Boston restauranteur/chef Ana Sortun about parsnips, which just may be the next brussel sprout! (Contrary to popular belief, parsnips are not the bummer of every spring farm share box.) She and her husband Chris Kurth, who owns Siena Farms, taught me a lesson www.wbur.org/news/2024/05...

Since we're all doing intros: I help run @cogwbur.bsky.social of @wbur.org. I've been at Cog for 7 years. I love my work + public media -- I'm grateful I get to help people share their stories for a living (even when the news is hard).

I work w/authors, produce audio and everything in between

Greetings! Still finding my sea legs, but thus far, this place seems oddly human and normal?

This is Fern; she’s a 2-y-o Portuguese water dog. She’s as cute and mischievous as she looks — and she makes sure I touch grass every day
