Clockwork Knight - SEGA - Sega Saturn - クロックワーク ナイト
Found the post.

This video also had the famous "Daytona Mode 7 floor" footage that everyone loves. Haha

These were on the tape too iirc.

I might be able to recover it, so there is still some hope.

It is also likely that the Original VHS tape was the source of the screenshots used in the 1994.07 issue of Sega Magazine UK. The shots matched up to the VHS footage which was also a PAL.

One magazine even showed the VHS overscan iirc!

@brandon.insertcredit.com Hi, did you back up this early Saturn promo video you posted about 5 years ago on Twitter? Lost my copy & the original uploader set this to private & is being kinda difficult about it. Waited 1yr+ for a re-up to their "gaming channel", but no. Shame for this to go missing!

Make sure to stay warm at this time of the year!

Finally to add to the Tiny Katchin' curiosity, we have actually seen them before in other prototype materials.

They can be spotted in 2 different Sega Saturn Pre-Launch Trailers, and also repeated footage in the 1994.10 release of Sega Video Magazine (セガビデオマガジン).

Now onto something very interesting... Tiny "Katchin' " enemies!

1. These aren't in the retail release of the game.
2. There are no Katchin' enemies in the whole of Kevin's Room in the final retail game except for the boss area.

As we can see here, the design of the train was somewhat altered.

We know from other prototype materials that this was also redesigned at least once after the version featured in the magazine/before the final retail version.

A prototype screen of Clockwork Knight (上巻) was found in the 1994.11.25 issue of Weekly Famicom Tsuushin (週刊ファミコン通信).

Showing Kevin's Room Stage 2 (Level 2-2), the foreground area is different compared to the final retail release of the game.

There's more...

And finally, we can see that Tongara's idle animation is far different to the final retail release of the game.

This has been seen in other prototype materials previously.

Next, we can see that in the prototype, the button to activate the bowling ball was further away from the wall, giving the player more space to stand between the two.

A subtle change, but a change nonetheless.

Next, we can see a different timer with the HUD set to the right of the screen. It is far more basic.

This timer HUD has been seen in other prototype materials previously.

A prototype screenshot of Clockwork Knight (上巻) was found in the 1994.12 issue of Game Blast (ゲームブラスト). It's sadly low quality as it comes from an auction image.

First, this image depicts Kevin's Room Stage 1 (Level 2-1)

A prototype image of Clockwork Knight 2 (下巻) from the 1995.07 issue of DENGEKI-OH (電撃王).

It shows a place in Kid's Room - Stage 1 (Level 1-1) that doesn't exist in the final retail version of the game!

What can be noticed is that the cuckoo clock is still a strange wall object of a duck with wheels, hanging cogs on a wooden mailbox and a purple egg at the end.

This matches up with prototype screenshots, including the Prime Selection prototype, as shown below.

So, I was looking on the "Hardware Story" page for Saturn on the JP SEGA website, and I noticed something cool... A screenshot of Clockwork Knight 2 (下巻), but funnily enough, it's a prototype screenshot!

The back cover of the Japanese retail release of the game also has screenshots that appear to match this prototype.

A late prototype of Clockwork Knight (上巻) was featured in the 1994.12.09 issue of Weekly Famicom Tsuushin (週刊ファミコン通信).

Of note is the glitched "Hippo Cookies" artwork, and the life counter shows 2 digits instead of 3. This has been seen in other pre-release media.
