Leader of the Lib Dems in Local Government @libdemlocalgov | Councillor for Cirencester, the Capital of the Cotswolds | Chelsea FC fan.
Congratulations to @paulcotswolds.bsky.social on being selected parliamentary candidate for the North Cotswolds!

Anyone that knows Paul knows that he’s a tireless campaigner and has a record of getting things done. He’s also the person who got me involved in politics (don’t hold that against him!).

Just arrived at conference - some thoughts on the drive down. Who’s at conference this week?

Looking forward to heading to Lib Dem Conference this weekend! If you’re at conference, come and say hello 👋

Labour are all over the place. Reform want to drag Britain backwards. ❌

It’s time to offer the British people something better.

Too often, utility companies dig up our roads and fail to restore them properly even though the law requires it.

We’re putting a stop to this. Companies that don’t play by the rules will face fines.

Our roads belong to everyone, and we’re making sure they’re treated with respect.

🚨 More power than our MPs. Managing £17 BILLION in services yet no voice on the main stage at conference. Lib Dem councillors deserve better.

My first political love has always been representing Cirencester and I’m standing in the local elections in two weeks time to try and do that for another four years.

Taking a break from the campaign trail to head to London, where I’ll be speaking to the Lib Dem parliamentary party.

So many of them are passionate advocates for councils, with firsthand experience as councillors. They understand the challenges we face on the ground.

It’s official! The nomination forms are in and I’m thrilled to say I’m now officially a candidate standing for re-election to the County Council!

My first political love has always been representing Cirencester, the place I live and where I was raised and that has shaped me as a person.

There’s a serious housing crisis in the Cotswolds. Many people who’ve grown up here simply can’t afford to stay.

We urgently need more genuinely affordable homes for local families, along with essential upgrades to infrastructure like roads and sewage systems to support them. 🏡

Our message to the Labour Government is simple:

Bigger councils may seem more efficient, but they risk distancing decision-making from local people.

Issues should be decided by those who understand them best - the people they impact.

Let’s keep decision-making close to home.

Great to be at the District Councils’ Network conference last week. We asked some Lib Dem councillors why district councils matter…

Great to welcome Rev Richard Coles fresh from the I’m a Celeb jungle to the District Councils’ Network conference! We tried to get GK Barry but I think she was unavailable 😂 Richard was a good sport and great to hear about his incredibly varied life from pop star to vicar!

Spent a fantastic few days at Milton Keynes City Council as part of their Local Government Association Peer Challenge.

We’ve seen first-hand a well-run council with a team of dedicated, motivated, and passionate staff—all committed to delivering the best for their city.

The Churn Project means so much to me. They supported my late grandfather and a family member in tough times. Proud to help fund their work!

I recently visited to see their incredible work—tackling loneliness, improving wellbeing, and supporting people in crisis in our area. #cirencester

The Conservatives trapped hundreds of thousands of children in poverty with their cruel and counterproductive two-child limit and Labour have done nothing about it since taking office.

It’s high time to scrap this limit and lift millions of children out of poverty.

Somerset Council Leader @billrevans.bsky.social, appeared in Parliament today with a clear message regarding the state of local government finances.

Lib Dems will keep pushing government for a solution.
