I’m sure we’ll all have stories about what our youth service meant to us, and this is why I believe this is one of the most important things the council does and why I will continue to go on about this until it’s resolved (apologies to all who have to listen to it).

Values matter and until we enact our promise to genuinely put children and young people at the heart of decisions that affect them, not just as a tick box exercise, we can’t and shouldn’t claim to be Child Friendly City.

must now reverse the decision to close The Ridge Adventure Playground and reopen it in time for the Summer to ensure 100 children don’t lose out on free food and activities. It must also commit to genuinely rebuilding trust with the communities it has let down with the handling of this situation.

to present this petition to Full Council today. Speaking out against council decisions doesn’t always make you popular, but when it’s right it’s important we do. And it’s always right if what you’re saying gives children a stake in their own lives. This has been a community effort and the council

They didn’t feel it important to raise this in their 15 years of government, or question IICSA’s approach to organised grooming for sexual exploitation and abuse.

Tommy Robinson was happy to almost get a whole trial thrown out because he got to play the victim while the real victims suffered /3

They were happy to cut the funding to support victims and survivors, to stand under a leader who said investigating historic child sex abuse crimes was “spaffing money up the wall”, and to have voted to decimate the services that did support victims and survivors well. /2

No one was interested when they further cut outreach support funding. Patel came and said she knew we weren’t the people responsible but shouted at us anyway. All very odd that they’ve stumbled on the idea of an inquiry just months too late to implement it. 2/2
