Good afternoon, Councillor Miller I look after the Nelson Monument and have been asked to provide some information in regards to the pricing for entry to the Monument. The current pricing for entry is as follows: Adult entry £7.50 Concession entry £6.50 Family Ticket £3.00 (based on 2 adults + 2 children) Museum rooms only £3.00 This increased for this financial year as part of the annual budgeting process. Also to note the reason for intruding the adult/concession rates is to bring the Nelson monument in line with the ticketing structure at the Scott Monument. Previously the prices for entry were: Flat rate entry for all £6.50 Family ticket £22 Museum rooms only £3.00 To note these prices were not increase since pre-covid and only increased for this financial year after substantial investment to repair the Monument and upgrade the time ball mechanism which allowed us to reopen in August after being closed since January this year and previous closures due to the required repairs/replacement of the Mast at the top of the monument. What to do if you suspect an overdose Call 999 immediately - Ask for an ambulance and tell them it may be an overdose. Follow the instructions of the call handler which may include giving first aid. Administer naloxone (if available) - Naloxone temporarily reverses opioid overdoses, buying time until medical help arrives. - Where to get naloxone: Free naloxone kits are available in Scotland, along with training. Visit www.stopthedeaths.com for more information. - How to use naloxone: Naloxone should be given to anyone who is unresponsive and displaying the signs of an overdose. You may need to administer more repeat doses than usual, leaving 2-2 minutes between doses. Stay with the person - Do not leave them alone. Keep them safe and monitor their breathing until help arrives. 3. Harm reduction: how to reduce your risk - Don't use alone. If possible, have someone with you who can respond in an emergency. - Use in turns. If using with others, stagger your use so someone is alert to respond. - Always carry naloxone if you or someone you know uses drugs. - Try to avoid knowingly mixing substances. This is challenging when there are often multiple substances in the one drug but combining drugs (including alcohol and prescribed medication) increases overdose risk. - If someone is intoxicated, don't leave them alone. - Test your drugs. Use wedinos.org for drug-checking services. - Seek support. Get naloxone - from a local treatment service, harm reduction service or pharmacy. - Consider accessing treatment - being in treatment is a protective factor against overdose. Contact your local treatment service. 4. 🚨 NHS Lothian Public Health has issued an alert triggered by a sudden increase in drug related harms (including a number of deaths) in Edinburgh, particularly the City Centre - please read this information and learn how to save someone who may have overdosed. 🚨

I’m sad to say our proposal to lead our council in partnership with the SNP and in collaboration with other political groups was unsuccessful at a vote today. The council remains the hands of 10 Labour members. I’m feeling sad and disappointed this afternoon.

A statement from Green Group Co-convenor, Cllr Susan Rae, regarding the unfolding situation re Cllr Cammy Day:
It is unbelievable that it has taken Cllr Day this long to do the inevitable and resign as Council Leader. When all parties, including your own, are acknowledging that it is incompatible to lead the Council while being subject to a police investigation and serious accusations of this nature, the right course of action is clear. The Green Group are engaging in conversations with all parties about what this means for the future of the administration of Edinburgh Council, and as always our priority will be what is best for the people of Edinburgh. We also want to again send our support to those who may have experienced this behaviour, as well as anyone with experience of sexual harassment and who may have been affected by this news.
