If you're interested in constitutional governance (in this case US governance), I can strongly recommend this book from @jgienapp.bsky.social. Wonderfully lucid. And, as a (very) lay reader, I appreciated the reiterated arguments and the plain, pithy prose.

Looks like our black bamboo is undergoing a very rare flowering. Assume it's going to die once done? Kew Gardens may be able to shed light, thanks! @rbgkew.bsky.social

Good insight. This holds true for most, if not all, political jurisdictions.

Now reading this – biography of Toussaint Louverture, the leader of the 18th century slave revolt in Haiti. It's very good.

The weather has been all over the place here, of late. Here's us on holiday in Dorset last week, where we had the most glorious late summer sunshine: warm, with a cool breeze off the sea.

A short break in Dorset. Gorgeous late-summer sun, fossil hunting on the Jurassic coast, and The Sea! (a delight for us landlocked folk).

If you live in the Derby area, and are interested in joining a masters swimming club, then come along to one of our taster sessions in September. It's a fantastic club, and very friendly.
