Zambia’s first critical minerals guide highlights the country’s critical mineral resources. Proud to have been part of the British & Zambian Geological Surveys #criticalminerals team that worked on the guide nora.nerc.ac.uk/id/eprint/53... Watch this space as we are back off to Zambia tomorrow!

Handed over the books I’d brought out to staff of the Zambian Geological Survey Department at the @BritGeoSurvey.bsky.social Critical Raw Materials workshop on Wednesday (20/3/24). It was lovely the geologists were super excited!

Packing for Zambia this morning, as @britgeosurvey.bsky.social had a clear out recently I’ve got a nice set of books to take out with me for the Geological Survey Department in Lusaka - good job I’ve got extra baggage allowance!

Spent the day walking the moorlands between Buxton & Macclesfield - set off from the Cat & Fiddle (still snow here!), walked to Three Shires Heads (where Cheshire, Staffordshire & Derbyshire meet) and back past a lot mine tips & shafts. So lucky with the weather (although the pub was closed!).

Just finished ‘Terry Pratchett: A life with footnotes’ excellent biog. by Rob Wilkins - I’ve been immersed in the life-affirming, uncompromising, driven world of the genius Terry Practhett - I was in floods of tears at the end reliving the grief of his loss in 2015.

Hop harvesting! Rescued this hop plant (no idea what the variety is) and it’s thrived. You can see the Lupulin resin at the base of the hop cone petals. Once air dried, I’ll be using these in the Mitchell Brewery as part of my next beer.
