Probably in a café right now.
There is a town in South Yorks called Penistone, so you can expect to see road signs for it, and you do. But this is an old milestone (200 years I'd guess) and presumably the person who carved it was either living in a more innocent time, or had a wicked sense of humour.

Anne Bronte's grave in St Mary's churchyard in Scarborough UK. Photograph by me in 1965.
Maintained by a local society, the inscription can be easily read. Charlotte Bronte complained that Anne's age was recorded wrongly on the headstone. She was 29 at the time of her death, not 28 as shown.

Post you from a different era.

Me wearing a moustache and a denim shirt in the pub after a day at work, one Friday in Sheffield in 1995. Note, both items now long gone.

So here's my aged 17 drawing of a cat. Which, looking back, I'm rather pleased with.

Here's my first (and probably last) attempt at collage. Made from old greeting cards cut to resemble a face.

This looks like my idea of a prison yard, but it isn't. It's the view from a window at the back of the National Portrait Gallery in London. Taken by me, 1966/67.

This 1963 cover for Wuthering Heights, drawn by Paul Hogarth, is just fantastic. I never tire of looking at it. Catherine and Heathcliff together on a raw Pennine day. It's all there.

In the ruins of Coventry Cathedral, where rain has washed years of grime from a statue and created a sort of stone skeleton.
