There is an idea, supported by many archaeologists, that the exploitation of marine resources was the hallmark of our species. Catching marine mammals required cognitive abilities that only we possessed. These theorists would do well to spend more time in the field. Difficulty? What difficulty?

An Eastern Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca) feeds on the carcass of a Golden Jackal (Canis aureus), in Hungary. Being familiar with the sister species, the Spanish Imperial Eagle (Aquila adalberti), it has been great to be able to make comparisons. @stewartfinlayson.bsky.social @gibgerry.bsky.social
