December Moths and Scarce Umber from last night. #TeamMoth

7 moths of 4 species last night in VC57. The weather is too grim to take photos 🌧🌧🌧. December Moth 4, Scarce Umber, E postvittana and B lacticolella. Lurker patrol is likely cancelled 😏 #TeamMoth

A snap decision to run last night actually paid off for once. Despite steady rain until midnight, a very reasonable 20/6 made it worthwhile. Target moth was Scarce Umber and it duly obliged. Also, 9 Mottled Umber (must be a record here), 4 Red-green C, Winter Moth and 4 LBAM. #TeamMoth

11 of 5 up at Middleton last night, with nothing new or unexpected. #TeamMoth
The only other species were Brick and E postvittana.

Today's lurker patrol. #TeamMoth
November 7, 2025 at 10:47 AM
A night of attrition against the dark meteorological forces, and a power cut, produced a dismal 6/5. White-point, Mottled Umber (different individual), Juniper C, a late Straw Dot, and 2 E postvittana. #TeamMoth
Face it, it's over 😪

I'm only running the MV tonight (actinic is still on the roof and I just couldn't face climbing). Conditions look better with a little drizzle and no sign of the moon currently. Just one moth so far but it's the 3rd garden record of White-point.

Pretty dire last night in VC57 with the Beaver supermoon scuppering any hope of a decent return. Just 5/5, but Winter Moth nfy. #TeamMoth
November 6, 2025 at 8:15 AM
The wind proved to be too strong for moths to fly last night. Just 4/4 - December Moth, Red-green Carpet, Juniper Carpet and Feathered Thorn. #TeamMoth

Right Wogan, let's 'ave it 👊
It's blowing a hooly here and there's rain in the forecast too, so I must be mad 🤯. Nothing ventured...
Anyone else daft enough? #TeamMoth

A new moth for me last night with this Streak. Scarce in VC57 in recent years, and probably not on the radar (also larger than I envisaged). A late Green Brindled Crescent, 2 Red-line Quaker, another Brick amongst the usual Red-green Carpets. #TeamMoth

Another wet and breezy night here in Cromford. Preliminary checks suggest 14 of 9. There is however a nfm amongst those 😃.
Photos will have to wait until later 🙄
Meanwhile here's a very funky Epirrita.

A few of the White-point.

Lurker alert ⚠️. White-point hiding on a disused bird feeder. New for the garden year list (2nd ever here). Also Red-line Quaker in the leaf litter. #TeamMoth
White-point will need some cooling off for photos, in my limited experience.

12/6 last night (wet again). I'm fairly happy with Northern Winter Moth nfy, Feathers McThorn 4, Epirrita agg, Common Marbled Carpet 2, Red-green Carpet 3 and Juniper Carpet. The NWM had forewing length 16.5mm which is within range. More wasps than all year and a Smooth Newt 🙂

What appears to be Northern Winter Moth just arrived. I'll need to look in better light tomorrow. Two Common Marbled Carpet are the only others I can see at the mo. Rain incoming soon.

A decent 17/7 at a soggy Cromford with a faded Brick nfy. Mainly geometers with 5 Feathered Thorn, 6 Red-green Carpet, 2 Juniper Carpet, a late Common Marbled Carpet, Mottled Umber and a December Moth. #TeamMoth
October 29, 2025 at 8:38 AM
A few moths in the end last night, despite the rain and strong wind. Red-green Carpet 3, Juniper Carpet, Large YU, Turnip Moth, Merveille du Jour and LBAM. #TeamMoth
Also a Noon fly 😏

6 of 6 for me last night up at altitude.

I'm up at my daughter's tonight, so I thought I'd give it a go. Wogan has been sent packing with a nfy December Moth, Blair's Shoulder-knot and Juniper Carpet. 💪💪

A very reasonable 28/13, last night, with Mottled Umber and Satellite nfy.
Merveille du Jour, 4 Feathered Thorn, Chestnut, Barred Sallow etc, 6 Juniper Carpet etc.
A micro still to process which is likely nfg. #TeamMoth

The area to watch tonight is just ahead and behind the cold front as it pushes east this evening and overnight, when the wind will drop briefly for an hour or two. It will remain fairly windy on the coast. Western and more inland spots perhaps more likely to see any migrant activity. #teammoth

19/9 here in Cromford with nothing new. A nice selection though- Merv 2, GB Crescent 2, Y-line Q 2, Red-line Q, Blair's S-k, R-g Carpet 4, Epirrita 4, Juniper Carpet 2, Large YU. #TeamMoth
October 19, 2025 at 10:33 AM
22/13 in VC57. An unprecedented 4 Merveille du Jour 😀. Photographed 3, then another turned up 🤯
Also a different Large Wainscot amongst the usual autumn fare. #TeamMoth
