Try playing a deck that consistently puts up at least two pieces of disruption, ie a negate, bounce, destroy, or banish at quick effect speed. On your opponents turn and you are passed priority take the time to read and understand their play lines, and hold your disruptions for a good "choke point"

The extra stuff makes it better, i like combining cards to make bigger cards with synchros or xyzs, or doing link climbing, the game is a lot more expressive and interesting now in spite of the higher learning curve
