My first go at pulling together all the Midsomer Murders actors who are actually related! I’m sure there are still a few missing, but I’ll be adding more over the next few days.

Can anyone tell me what this Irish jig(?) is called? No music recognition software can tell me.
(Since you can't attach audio files here, I made a video and recorded the music.)

Feel free to repost.

Oh, it's already been two and a half months since I met Annette Badland. It was so amazing.
And when she walked past me in the hotel corridor on her way to her room, I wished her “good night” and she replied “good night, darling”... 🥹❤️

Why are unpleasant emails so unpleasant?
And why do I see emails as unpleasant when I'm just doing self-care? 🫠

ChatGPT, after I recorded myself reading an English text and asked it to tell me the accents it hears - honest and critical.
So no exact details, but even if this is approximately correct... I'm a bit flabbergasted.
„You sound like someone who knows, appreciates & empathises with Teesside - but you don't (yet) sound like you grew up there.

I'd say:
- 60-65% Teesside
- 20% general North East
- 15% Standard English/RP

And that's great - especially for someone who hasn't heard the accent ‚from a young age.‘“

In June 1826, 9 travellers with English-sounding names signed the guestbook in Klopp Castle at Bingen on the Rhine.
However, I have only been able to identify 3 of them. The others either did not provide their forenames or gave no titles, making identification difficult.
So how to identifying them?🧵

Friday. I've started researching the names (not too deep for the sake of numbers).
And I'm already racking my brain.
What do I do with all the ones I can't identify?

I'll make a new thread for that. Maybe one of my followers who are researching Britain's Romantic Period will have an idea?
I thought it'd be interesting to see all Brits who signed the guest book at Klopp Castle in Bingen on the Rhine between 1826 and 1914, to see which honours and celebrities were there.
Well… got. more than 2000 names, and I've already deleted the duplicates and entries with illegible surnames. 😵‍💫 🗃️

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Part 2 of my series on the history of the offside rule has been published on @bolztribuene.de. This one is about offside variations and 'scientific football' (1858-1924).

My spring tradition: When it's 20 degrees outside for the first time (and I'm at home), I drink a glass of rum in the garden.

This year: Don Papa Baroko.
Cheers!

Envious of all the people from Teesside because they have the best English accent without having to learn it.

What I wanted to do: read a bit and do some freelance work.

What I did: added a pillar page with texts & links to my website, designed the homepage with a new theme, lost my nerve several times because I couldn't find small errors in the Wordpress customiser, then finally found them and fixed them.

It's official, I have hay fever. Birch and house dust are my nemeses. (But the latter is not quite as bad.)
Maybe my diagnosis of "chronic rhinitis" seven years ago was really hay fever?

Just read the programme for Midsummer in Midsomer 🙌. It's going to be so great. Look forward to lots of photos of film locations and plenty of food and drink.

I just realised that the actress who played Frances Le Bon in Midsomer Murders' Ring Out Your Dead is known for a quite famous role in a Monty Python movie.
