Again, my point is that the quote is wild. If Grindr were to require age verification as part of their terms of use (of their own volition), that would not infringe on an individual's first amendment rights. I'm over this conversation, but I appreciate your responses!

230 protects Grindr from being compelled to ID. But implemented that policy on their own, there is no free speech protection for users of Grindr, which is what the above statement implies
February 25, 2025 at 1:16 AM
Are you saying that Grindr has a 1st amendment right to not be forced to require age verification? If so, that's still a very different assertion from the statement above which says that individuals have a first amendment right to not have to provide age identifying info to an app like Grindr.

Although I understand why GRINDR is not liable, this quote is a WILD take. The first amendment protects private citizens from government, it doesn't protect citizens from having to prove their age when they use a private software/website. Should we stop OnlyFans from doing age verification?

The author backs up this assertion with a link to an article that really doesn't say much about government regulation. Rather, it finds that within the context of procurement, the issues are agency (DOT) capacity and lack of competition for the government contracts.

This is like an Onion article. Life imitating art.
