He will be back but I wouldnt bet on him to win the next basho. A shoulder separation will prevent any upper body training and will limit the amount of reps he can take in practices. Your boy Hoshoryu might have a yusho advantage in this one if he can figure out how to stop Aonishiki.

One of the best guys out there, such a tough guy, never an easy win. One of the most memorable. He should probably retire if that diagnosis is true. I bet he would be a great coach, his sumo was so well developed. Its a cruel sport.

The Wharton School should be closed if this is the kind of graduate they produce.

Coups are all the rage in NW Africa these days. There's a lot of Wagner scum down there causing trouble.

White ponchos and helmet covers would be very easy to produce in great numbers, but Putin has no care, he throws away his soldiers lives as if they were chickens.

How can you be a eunuch when you never had balls to begin with?

Pretty common mindset for the Japanese. The tradition is very appealing. But I think we can agree that the sport is not optimum today.

If the sport was better marketed, these guys could make a better living. There should be more of those international events like the one in London. People who are exposed to the sport end up liking the sport. Exposure is very poor currently.
I had to hunt to find the broadcasts when I first started.

Seems like rikishi have a fair amount of free time after training in the morning. A late afternoon class that gets them a diploma and some vocational skills seems very doable. Only the sanyaku make real money so its disappointing to see the sport using up these guys with no care for their futures.
November 26, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Plus he needs to lose 300 pounds rapidly, which sounds like a tall order for just about anyone. Sumo should offer educational opportunities and career skills training for these guys who have little to no future after they leave the dohyo. Scandalous exploitation.

5 foot 6, 484 pounds. His BMI is 78.2, which is wild, I have never seen anything close to that. I am 5-11, 220 pounds and a serious weightlifter. My BMI is 30 and I am told thats not great. So this rikishi is in serious trouble and I hope he leaves the sport so he can take care of his health.
November 26, 2025 at 6:37 PM
Do you know how tall he is? Curious about what must be a wildly out of this world BMI. 220kg is 484 pounds, which seems like it might be slightly too much weight to be an effective athlete in any sport. Onosato carries his 420 pounds very well at 6-4. This dude is probably a lot shorter.

Social nationalism would have been a more accurate title. A society totally exploited for nationalist aims.
November 26, 2025 at 12:35 AM
The word socialist was added to the title of the German Workers Party to appeal to left-wing voters. The word National was added to the title to appeal to right-wingers. Thus the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) was born. There was never anything socialist about national socialism.

Dumb decision and totally on-brand for Hegseth. Scouting was where I learned almost everything worthwhile in this lifetime. Including how to shoot and maintain firearms, woodcraft, orienteering, pioneering, first aid and every other skill needed in the military.
