Unpopular opinion: SLC should embrace above-grade separation for transit. Opens the door for high frequencies, automation, and higher speeds. The S-Line and the 2100S-1300S rail corridor would be good candidates for viaducts.

Years ago when I lived in Atlanta, a poor woman pushed a stroller across wide stroad that had crosswalks at least a quarter mile away. The child was killed by a car and the moral outrage towards the woman from suburban parents who “would never put their child in danger like that” changed me.
