Today is #WorldPeatlandsDay. These photographs show the devastating effects of a recent wildfire on peat moorland in the Peak District. Peatlands are vitally important carbon stores - storing nearly twice the carbon stored in all of the world's forests.

Today is the first #WorldGlacierDay.

This photograph, by Ankit Tanwar, shows an ice stupa in the Himalayas - an artificial glacier built at lower altitudes to store meltwater and mitigate the effect of shrinking glaciers.
