🤝 For health and climate

The CLEAR-Methane project created a design for filters that, when installed in ventilation systems, could help both our health and our planet.

This week, they've published a paper highlighting its feasibility: www.climaterepair.cam.ac.uk/news/health-...

Last week, @theguardian.com published an Editorial on geoengineering. Tagline: "Sun-dimming risks putting the planet’s thermostat under Donald Trump’s control. Better to adopt the precautionary principle with high-stakes science."

Today, three Letters push back against the claims of the article.

For health and climate 🤝

Cambridge researchers have developed a filter that can improve indoor air quality whilst also removing methane, a potent greenhouse gas at the forefront of climate change.

CLEAR-Methane is a finalist in the University of Cambridge’s Postdoc Venture Creation Challenge.

What are we doing at @cop30brazil.bsky.social?

Our best weapon against climate change is clear, evidence-based understanding of the actions available, and COP30 is a chance to share our research with policymakers and international representatives. @shaunfitzgerald.bsky.social @hughhunt.bsky.social

At lunchtime, @shaunfitzgerald.bsky.social introduced climate repair to students at the Faculty of Mathematics, @cam.ac.uk. In turn, they asked about recent papers critiquing "dangerous" research, how we measure ecological impacts, what really scares us, and what good dialogue could look like.

📚 Back to school: a new word for your dictionary!

At our Climate Interventions debate earlier this year, Robert Chris presented his idea of "Cocawki". He led to the question: if we are concerned about this risk, do the existing measures make it vanishingly small? If not, what can we do about it?
