A decade after the Paris Agreement, we can see it for what it was, a rare moment when humanity briefly aligned around science, and the possibility of collective action.

The years that followed reveal a story of both real progress and deep contradictions.

Today, I write about the chasm between our proclaimed values and our political choices.

The #COP30 agreed on a package. It does not include a transition away from fossil fuels.

It hardly comes as a surprise.

Predictably, the transition was blocked by fossil fuel interests and oil‑producing states, determined to protect their business model at the expense of climate action.

GDP tells us how much we produce - not how well we live.

It worked after WWII, but today we need new metrics that reflect how long we live, how secure we are, and whether our environment can sustain us.

Every fraction of a degree higher means more hunger, more displacement and more lives & ecosystems lost.

Fossil fuel companies are deceiving the public Every dollar poured into subsidies for fossil fuels is a dollar diverted from our health & shared future.
