O něco více se nerovná o něco horší. Emissions are *still* rising.

Thanks to Trump and his pressure to revive the CPS in the IEA's World Energy Outlook, we know what it means to vote for ppl like him (i.e. for politicans reneging on previous climate intentions): a much hotter world, with many more disasters, economic damages and deaths.

Europeans, be warned.

I'm reading too much climate stuff.

22 million more tonnes of CO2e emitted by the US in 2024 compared to 2023.

What will it be next year after one year of Trump and the obliteration of Biden's climate policies?

...if people keep procuring services without embedding strict sustainability criteria, and if others keep accepting these requests, I really do not know how we can ever hope to achieve the 1.5°C goal. I mean, look at the projected emissions of the international aviation sector.

Fixed it for him.

A graph the smart brains at the Czech Motorists party ought to look at before opening their mouth.
In the span of 5 years, Denmark avoid fossil fuel imports worth of €225 million. That's cca 6 billion Kč.

..the RCP 8.5 is deemed a business-as-usual scenario, which it never was (no preference nor likelihood were assigned to RCP scenarios). Besides, in 2021, it was already clear that global emissions were not following that scenario anymore.

Pretty impressive how LULUCF emissions can dramatically change yoy. Czechia is a remarkable example as well (I suppose because of the bark beetle outbreak). The COVID dip was +/- offset by that.
(Although the impact on Czechia's net GHG is not as marked as for Finland.)

Perfect timing for appointing a climate change denier as environment minister.

The per capita carbon footprint in France has decreased by 20% between 1990 and 2024, from 12.1 tCO2e to 8.2 tCO2e, which is rather good news.

It is still 42% above the global average, not to mention what it should be if a fair share would be factored in.

Something I am unsure about though relates to China's emissions. Their CO2 emissions may have decreased in 2024, but this may not be true when considering all GHGs. (And this matters as their upcoming NDC makes a reference to peak emissions).

Massive Jean-Marie Le Pen vibes right there.

Brutal yoy increase of Czechia's CO2 emissions over the 8 first months of the year: +6.4%, more than twice the average EU increase 🤯

No matter the angle, Trump's second mandate is a disaster for the world.

Europe, be warned.

Not sure why but this cover from The Economist came to mind.

So the Paris-Berlin and Paris-Vienna night-train lines may be terminated due to a lack of State support.
But fear not, because the aviation industry is totally on track (it is not one bit) to achieve a net zero transition by 2050.
September 25, 2025 at 3:36 PM
The climate target submitted by China is good news after Trump's deranged blabbering, but it's still bad news overall as it depends on their *GHG* emissions peaking. I'm confident peak CO2 emissions is near (may have happened) but what about CH4 & N20? Not so confident it's plateauing.
