“Silvia, why did Jane’s passing hit you so hard?”

Let me tell you a story.

In 2002, when I was 16, as I was finishing middle school in Catalonia, our teachers asked us to come dressed as ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’

We were having a photoshoot for our end-of-year magazine

My 5-year-old knows that I was upset this week.

I’m in tears that we lost Jane Goodall.

Since childhood, she was my hero: a scientist who listened to nature.

She showed us that science is more than data. It’s empathy, connection, responsibility.

or if a question burns so deeply you can’t let it go.

Dinosaurs aren’t just history
they’re data.

When 150-million-year-old fossils get auctioned off like home décor, we all lose. If a fossil isn’t publicly accessible, its scientific value is gone.

Science isn’t for sale.

Ignoring this might mean missing one of the most powerful tools we actually have to fight climate and biodiversity collapse.

Over the years, I’ve watched report after report confirm what we already know:
