Began with wood carving of wildlife and commercial fishing. Branched into stone and figurative and now work a lot with ceramics in the same subjects.
I'm working on a ceramic sculpture of a fisherman. I made it hollow and waited a day, after each step, for the clay to firm up so it could support its own weight. The details for the Sou-Wester and oil clothes are yet to be done.

"Sculpins," two kids catching sculpins off the Wharf. When I Was young, we could sell them for lobster bait. We got 25 cents a pound. Big money way back then.

Winter is a time when I like to try new-to-me ideas. This is an Atlantic Stingray, on a flat disc representing the ocean floor. It will be ready for the kiln when the clay is dry. I like the concept. I'll be doing more along this line.

I make little scenes related to the fishery in my area. This is an old style Cape Island boat that was at our Wharf in the early 1960s. It had an old style wood winch head, which was very uncommon by that time. The only navigation was a compass and a clock. It was being used for lobster fishing.
