Well, the smoke is back in Seattle 🥲 Unfortunately, the Bear Gulch Fire in the Olympic National Park has blown up 😔 We need rain soon and a lot of it.

As an FYI - I recommend Watch Duty and Paku for wildfire tracking and air quality, respectively. EPA data is inconsistent, so Purple is all we have.

I am slowly migrating my IG over to Flashes! Additionally, I will soon have a substack where I will be posting field notes from my outings!

Stay tuned!

My star photo this year - the milkyway over Crater Lake, OR.

Hi everyone! I will gradually be moving my portfolio from IG over to here! I am excited to be migrating to Flashes. While I will still be on IG for now, my plan is to start being more active here.

A pine marten, Martes americana, searching for some food early in the morning. As soon as this marten approached where I was, all the birds and red squirrels scattered!

A sweet little snowshoe hare I saw in Minnesota. These critters are aptly named for their big rear legs that help them navigate in snow!

The boreal owl has a dependency on black woodpeckers. Black woodpeckers create cavities in trees, which owls use for nesting. This species interdependency is very common in the animal and plant kingdoms.

Find a protest near you.

We can't promote wildlife and save what little is left without addressing the political situation we find ourselves in. The radical right must be stopped.

America's national parks are our greatest treasures. We cannot let this administration destroy them.

If a national park is gone, that's it. There is no recovering it.

Protect our public lands!

(1/2) Trudeau and Sheinbaum are doing exactly what any good leader would do - stand up for their nation and fight back.

What I am very disheartened by is how America is treating two of our historically closest allies. These are our neighbors and friends.

Tell the Senate to OPPOSE this harmful logging bill!
Tell your Senators to STOP a harmful logging bill called the "Fix Our Forests Act." Instead of actually helping forests, the bill makes it easier to log forests on public lands.

It's an #irruption year! Lots of #snowyowls have migrated further south into the northern mainland US to hunt and stay for the winter!

An irruption year is where owls have more chicks due to a larger population of lemmings during the previous summer.
