His personnel (both player and coaching) choices were baaaaad the last several years. It felt like his circle got so small (similar to Doug tbh) he was just putting folks wherever. Matt Patricia as OC, for example.

When I imagine Shad’s meetings with Trent as Michael Scott’s meeting where he planned to let go of Creed, things make so much sense.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the EVP type structure because I feel like it adds another layer of bureaucracy/plausible deniability. But Shad is so out of his depth/lacking in conviction that I think it’s essential he get one.

I don’t think there’s anything from Belichick’s life after Brady that’s tempting. He was just hiring friends/relatives at the end there, his circle was that small. Father time undefeated also. Vrabel/Johnson could stick around a while, I’d throw Aaron Glenn in there too.

I won’t trust any hire that doesn’t result from a thorough, but efficient, process. Urban was too quick. Pederson was clearly a fallback option because Shad hesitated, dragged his heels, and walked back Leftwich. Needs someone in the room who can confidently know when to say “this is our guy.”
