And if you're thinking, huh?, wait, I thought he missed the vote on that firearms bill –

– you're correct.

Seymour also missed that vote, in that same year, because he was late, because he spent too long bragging to reporters on the tiles about how hard he was going to vote against it.

Look, it's the least of our worries given the NZ govt's decision to weaken climate change targets

BUT

as a committed pedant i cannot let David Seymour claim unchallenged that he was the only MP to vote against the current target.

Because he didn't - he missed the vote, lol. The bill passed 119-0.

He may be a perfectly nice fellow, and I know nothing about his policies, but this council candidate's hoardings make him look like an amateur stage magician

feeling bored and cruel, I spend the afternoon tormenting my gen Z colleague by translating Romeo and Juliet into brainrot. she hates this exactly as much as you'd expect.

Reminder: Reality Check Radio is owned by Voices for Freedom, the biggest anti vaxx group behind the 2022 Parliament protest. VFF is banned from Facebook - RCR isn't. VFF has since pivoted to other 'anti woke' causes. In 2022 they fielded local govt candidates but concealed their VFF affiliation.

Chef's kiss RNZ headline. Literal 'please don't put it on the paper that I got mad' moment.

I made a jersey from the same yarn series but in worsted, in the same colourway! Pattern is Night Nook by Westknits. The yarn feels beautiful and is incredibly snuggly.

Yes, unless they're in a marriage / civil union / de facto relationship. Apparently there may still be 'some supports' in case of relationship breakdown etc, but that reads to me like less than the full support available to everyone else. www.rnz.co.nz/news/budget-...

The Sensible Sentencing Trust has apparently changed the image to one they've yanked from Parliament TV, which seems likely to constitute a breach of Standing Orders #nzpol

I will say that the vibes are immaculate, although the smell indoors is exactly what you'd expect from an event with a majority high school aged audience (armpits, pheromones and vanilla body spray)

Freddie giving us the full floorshow
March 27, 2025 at 7:19 AM
When he was a puppy, my wife used to crate Freddie whenever she was going to do yoga or a workout. It wasn't until his adulthood that we realised we'd accidentally trained him to put himself in dog jail whenever anyone in the house puts on gym shorts.

I know government agencies are seen as the undefeated champions of doublespeak, but SpaceX's use of 'unplanned rapid disassembly' as a euphemism for 'our spaceship blew up' is a strong private sector contender

For anyone planning to make a submission on the TPB, and hasn't yet started writing:

Worth noting that, per the article, the committee won't accept your submission if you call someone racist in it.

As a public servant and union member I unironically want to bring these back! The PSA lobbied hard throughout the '40s and '50s for public servants' right to embarrass ourselves and startle passersby with our sartorial splendor and knobbly pale knees

Today's totally normal #nzpol happenings: Winston Peters uses the R-slur in Parliament - then withdraws after a point of order but does not apologise. Question 10 in oral questions today www.parliament.nz/en/pb/hansar...

Actually, sorry to contradict myself, but it does still appear to be paywalled. Kei te pai, I'll refer to the kit itself - thanks for that link
