Impressive pro-democracy, pro-Constitution, pro-America turnout in Cocoa, FL 🇺🇸

I started this colored pencil drawing of the Chicago skyline in Fall 2016. Eight years and one cat claw through the sun later, it’s finished. 🩶

Every year I start strong and then August happens. Anywho, it was a delightful blend of childhood faves sprinkled with bits from Learn Up on Christofascist Authoritarianism 101.

I was at the vet with Pendleton and I overheard vet care given to cats Thanos, Monster, and Biggie Smalls and clearly I did not get the memo on imposing manly cat names. #catsky

Fifth graders and I read Jane Yolen’s Encounter this week. I use a gallery walk to teach this story because the illustrations are powerful— students’ observations and questions practically tell the story for me. #edusky #sschat

When Mr. Lewis was my junior high art teacher, I didn’t know who the Highwaymen were. And I definitely had no clue he was one of them. Today, thirty years later, I got to see Robert Lewis and appreciate his talent and legacy as one of the original FL Highwaymen painters. 🎨❤️ #artsky

My 5th graders researched notable figures in AANHPI history and created folk art-inspired watercolor paintings of them. Several students researched Fred Korematsu. It was an incredible privilege to hear Dr. Karen Korematsu speak at #NCSS2024 and get to show her my students’ art.
