Books, Plants, Martial arts, and politics if I absolutely must
When you plant something, and it dies, that's just the earth accepting the sacrifice. You did good. Plant another thing for the hungry earth. Or maybe it lives and thrives, that's great too!

Got told I was looking "very thin" today at work. Like, dude, bodies are hard. Any progress can vanish fast. I eat more than most, exercise every day. Lifting weights less because springtime is busy. After fretting about this random old man's comment, I realize he might have meant it as a compliment

If your planning a garden, remember that lots of plants are already out there. They will look beautiful if you take care of them. Its not always worth it to try and dig up everything to just plant new things

Bluesky is great, but I really think the future of social media is Discord. Everyone has their own channel, and your feed is just the channels you feel like looking at. Facebook is for adds and Bluesky is for politics, Discord is for keeping up with/chatting with people

It was a piece of advice that really hit me, I think from ResistanceGarden. "If you don't know how you would organize a revolution, start by organizing a book club or a community food sharing group." Its certainly no replacement, but getting people together takes practice and we gota start somewhere

www.youtube.com/@DGQC Probably the best philosophy group I've ever encountered. The discord has a sizable library as well as excellent conversation. The youtube channel has deep, yet understandable breakdowns of ideas/books in philosophy. They make some very hard works make sense
Quarantine Collective
The DGQC is the home for a new kind of philosophical pedagogy. Instead of experts telling you how things work, we encourage discussion, transversality, and rely on the participation of every skill lev...

So, book I'm reading. Septology. I swear, with every page I am more convinced that this is a wonderful valuable book about the oddities of consciousness, aging and life. And I am more convinced with every page that I am entirely the wrong reader. Like, very deep, very wise, I cannot relate

If you like audio-dramas (think an audiobook but done in episodes) I can't recommend "The White Vault" enough. Scary, well researched story that starts with a geologist team in northern Iceland and slowly the story gets bigger and bigger. Kinda like "The Thing" but with much more science.

The hype coming from Han Kang's "The Vegetarian" is incredible. I cant wait to start it (next week) and hope that other people read it as well

If I cant ask you about your garden, or what your studying, then it will be vague comments about the weather. Study something. Grow something

I have a running total of people who have told me they don't want any vaccinations. In person, not internet people. Right now the number is 5 and its painful. I'm really starting to feel like these next 4 years might break us.

When you get down to it, the defenders of the nuclear family do so because they engage in magical thinking. The family dynamics are irrelevant. Love, care, modeling emotional intelligence and healthy relationships: none of these things matter to them as long as the family follows their formula.

A picture of my favorite thistle and my favorite dandelion. The dandelion got weed-wacked so I made space around it, but up a tiny bamboo fence and tended it. Cant wait to see it next spring

When people say they want to "Resist" Trump, I wonder what exactly do they mean? We have little or no power in any branch of government so writing your congressperson (or anything like that) is out. There are lots of good options, but simply being angry or waiting to vote are not them.
