After U-852 sank the Peleus it left a large debris field, amongst which were several survivors clinging to rafts and wreckage. U boat commander chose to dispose of wreckage knowing it would kill crew clinging to it. Captain and two of his crew were executed after war crimes trials determined guilt.

Ask him if he's heard of Heinz-Wilhelm Eck, a German U-boat commander of the Second World War who was tried, convicted, condemned and executed after the war for ordering his crew to shoot the survivors of a Greek merchantman sunk by U-852. Two of his crew who pulled the triggers were also executed.

Even the renovated part given it's older than 50 years is considered historic and subject to NHPA Section 106 and NEPA compliance before construction began. Was it done? Supposed to be a public review and allows for public input.
