Georgian authoritie facilitates “snitching” to report violations of the new foreign agent law, which comes into force in a few days.

A new hotline is activated for the purpose. Predictably, this will just be a sham operation to show the population this legislation has wide support in society.
The Georgian government has opened a phone hotline and an email inbox for individuals to report alleged violations of the new restrictive media law, allegedly based on the US Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which comes into effect on 1 June.

Sounds a bit like a broken record.
Georgian PM Kobakhidze spoke at CPAC Hungary, praising Trump & Orbán while attacking 'liberal fascism,' and foreign-funded NGOs. He said Georgia is part of the 'real West' and seeks EU integration but won’t trade its identity for EU favours.

For the first quarter of 2025, business confidence in Georgia decreased (by 8.8 index points) and reached -5.0. The negative change in was driven by decreased past performance as well as pessimistic expectations.
A first negative since COVID.

The regime has adopted multiple dictatorial laws in the last couple of days, including strict limits and censorship on media, and forbidding academic work for civil servants without the approval of supervisors, guaranteeing regime indoctrination.

Rarely have I encountered such a powerful tribute to the profession of journalism.
