My final thoughts on this are that true conversion is a neverending journey of encounter and discovery with God. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, never be afraid to walk paths you have never tread because you will find God in places you least expect—just as I have.

However, unlike St. Augustine, I am not so ardent and zealous when it comes to my faith, and take a more tempered and practical approach to Christian living.

My genuine conversion experience was not unlike that of St. Augustine's and I have no doubt that my mother's own prayers were instrumental in my coming into fullness of the faith by becoming a Catholic Christian.

I don't regret the journey I've taken, and I am far richer for it spiritually and intellectually. Not unlike St. Augustine, I had my share of engagement with other philosophies and belief systems. In a way, I am still shaped by them although at my heart I am a Christian—always have been.

My own mother was named after her by my grandfather. When I left Christianity to embark on my own intellectual journey, she prayed for over a decade for my full conversion.
