A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic was everything I want in a cozy fantasy with a baking competition. Honestly, it’s most of what I want in any book. It has drama, adventure, romance, friendship, delicious baked goods, and more! The plot kept me reading and the cast of characters had me wanting to read even more! Arleta and Theo were lovely and Verdreth and Ervash are my favorite orcs of all time! Also, I can’t wait to read more about Jez and Doli and Taenya! The only thing that kept me from giving a full five stars was that sometimes the writing got a bit repetitive, but honestly, that’s more of a personal preference and can be very easily overlooked by another reader. All in all, this was a wonderfully, delightful read that I would suggest to any cozy fantasy enjoyer!

This is honestly one of my favorite books now. It was such a different perspective from anything I’ve ever read from the time period it was set in. It was absolutely eye-opening and attention-catching. I managed to become absolutely hooked on Doris Steele’s life and her voice. Even in the middle of a months’ long reading slump, I kept getting drawn back in. I would absolutely recommend that anyone and everyone read this book. Thank you so, so much to Mia McKenzie for writing this!!

There were some places that were a little too “info dumpy” to me, but overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable read!

It was only thirteen pages, but in that thirteen pages, I discovered an intriguing new realm with complex characters! I thoroughly enjoyed this short little adventure! It had twists and turns and revenge and hopeful futures (for some), so it’s basically the perfect fantasy story. My only complaint is that it’s not a full length novel, honestly.

I had such a great time with this book?? Honestly, the vibes were immaculate, and I pretty much devoured this book! The humor was spot on and the characters were so, so nice. I'm very partial to Ragand and August, but the Mandrake Coven as a whole have my entire heart. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it just felt a little, I don't know, unpolished? The pacing and dialogue felt a bit off at times, but it wasn't really anything major! The plot was there and present and kept me very interested, but it didn't feel all that important until the very end. I just feel like a little bit of a longer book would have done wonders! Again, nothing that would really stop me from reading the next book in the series or anything else the author puts out!! I'm actually SUPER excited to see what comes next to Henbane Hollow and everyone there!

First, a HUGE thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review! Wow. Just wow. I really stepped out of my comfort zone for this one, and boy, did it pay off! I’m not usually one for anything in the horror genre, but I do sometimes enjoy psychological thrillers; so I decided to give A Game in Yellow a shot. I am so glad that I did. When I started reading this book, I stepped into the lives and issues of Carmen, Blanca, and Smoke. They were all such intriguing characters, and the story itself was so interesting that I very quickly became invested! I devoured this book and its characters and only put it down to sleep and go to work. If I had been smarter and started reading on my off days, it would have been read in one sitting. Now, it would be five stars but there were a few minor things that I found made it a four to me. The biggest one being the climax. It was exciting and really picked up the pace for me, but it sped up so much from the regular pacing, that it was a little hard to follow at times. That didn’t really impact the ending (which was so GOOD) for me, but it felt a tad rushed compared to the rest of the book. I also wish that I could’ve gotten more of the characters! Overall, Hailey Piper’s A Game in Yellow is a fantastic read that takes you on a journey of insanity and the effect that it has on the people and the world around you.
