Also as crazy as it is, no team has more than 11 points from their last 5. We’ve extended our lead on every team in the league

I believe Scott has done previous studies that show this isn’t true and is just confirmation bias.

How do you adjust that with all the points city has dropped?

I feel like this was closer to the plan when he was signed. It's just the Havertz long term injury threw a wrench into that plan. This would always have been a game where Havertz started.

If you told me after this period that we'd have drawn our most recent match and have a 6 point lead, I'd have snapped your hand off.

There are two teams on the field, we have a big say in making them look bad.

How could I forget! That's 7 away matches of the 8 we've played so far, and the 8th was a bit of a bogey ground for us (Craven Cottage). There aren't any easy away matches, but we've definitely played the hardest share I think.
December 16, 2025 at 8:23 PM
How does our away strength of schedule compare to those other teams? AFAICT, we have played so many hard away matches (Liverpool, SJP, Villa, Stamford Bridge, Stadium of Light) and we haven’t played any of the worse teams away.

Hopefully they are getting their defensive xG outliers out of the way to shut down Villa over the weekend.

My guess is the plan was to rest him against Brugge, but he had to play a lot to get there.
December 3, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Is it at all surprising that every goal we've conceded so far (small sample size) has been the first goal of the match?
November 5, 2025 at 8:42 PM
I don't think that's ever given in the Prem. I'm also not sure if it should be. Penalty kicks are just way too harsh of a punishment for most things
November 4, 2025 at 6:18 PM
And we get drawn to play the two other best teams in the world. Neat

Does .27 xG seem a bit low to you for an empty net?
October 21, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I’m not sure it was correct though. The first contact was knee to knee and that’s why he was able to get the ball. Was it soft? Maybe, but it wasn’t a clear and obvious error I don’t think
October 18, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Do you honestly think it would have been overturned going the other way?
October 18, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Might as well do it every time if they’re not gonna call it
September 28, 2025 at 4:54 PM
The thing I don’t understand is how they reached the exact opposite conclusion in the Saliba clash of heads last season
September 28, 2025 at 4:33 PM
Do you that goal stands if we score it? I don’t
September 28, 2025 at 4:07 PM
I mean, they're trying. I've seen shade thrown at Gyo, Eze, Rice, and Merino
September 16, 2025 at 6:20 PM
Maybe if his name was lessjon it wouldn’t be
August 24, 2025 at 2:52 AM
Yeah, "not good enough" isn't fair. "Not healthy enough"/"not lucky enough". I really just meant with all of the injuries we didn't have enough of a squad to challenge on all levels
May 9, 2025 at 5:48 PM
This year? No, we weren't. Last year? We absolutely were. When the margins are Trossard finishing an early chance against Villa, Son not scoring a breakaway against City, or City dropping any points across their last 15 matches other than to us.
May 9, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Agreed on all fronts. Hopefully we have a little more to spend this summer. Kai would be an incredible squad player to play both the left 8 and striker.
