I’d argue that inherent implies the problem is within the individual and doesn’t take into account different social contexts. it’s great you’ve discovered the double empathy problem, it’s a really good way of understanding autism within the context of the social model of disability

i’m assuming they mean in general, not as part of what you might learn in french. expressions that don’t convey their literal meaning can be difficult for many autistic people to understand because we tend to take language literally
