Happy to share our recent journey to the European Space Agency on the May13. We presented at the EO for Agriculture Under Pressure workshop in Frascati (IT). Our poster delved into how UAV-technology is revolutionizing monitoring for segetal flora conservation in arable land. 🌾 #ESA #AgTech

Yesterday we had the Faculty Day of Environmental Sciences 2024 at the Tharandt Campus. Caterina Barrasso had a great 1 minute one-slide presentation on her Scads.AI project and overall, we got to meet other environmental science fellows.

New day, new Field Trip: Revitalisation of a High Moor in the Ore Mountains, Saxony, with the Masters students. Input by Sachsenforst and a hydrological engineering office, not only showing possible work opportunities for geographers, but also how biodiverse peat bogs are!

New day, new Field Trip: Revitalisation of a High Moor in the Ore Mountains, Saxony, with the Masters students. Input by Sachsenforst and a hydrological engineering office, not only showing possible work opportunities for geographers, but also how biodiverse peat bogs are!
2nd field trip was on urban trees. We analysed current a-/biotic stress factors for urban trees & discussed future scenarios while mapping trees @ the main campus & assessing their vitality & future prospects. Our highlight: Observing a chestnut & its pest, the Japanese chestnut gall wasp (see pic).

Sneak peak into the seminar room 🪄 Besides research, we are also doing lots of teaching for bachelors, masters and becoming teachers at our chair - namely from Regional Geography over Biogeography to Changes in Geographical Spaces and a hands-on project seminar.
