[Screenshot of the following from my 1.2 Sutures WIP for Dan Heng and March 7th in Honkai: Star Rail] March doesn’t let go, leaving him to decide to pull away once he’s ready. When he finally does, he finds himself asking, “Are my expressions that obvious?” She smiles. “Even if you’ve never tried to share much of yourself, I still found ways to learn about you.” He doesn’t know what to say to that. Dan Heng is so used to dismissing his own needs and prioritizing others that he’s never realized he'd exposed parts of himself in such a manner. “And I get why you never wanted to say anything on the subject, so if you’re worried about me being mad. There’s no such thing.” He lets out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. “Still, I’m sorry for seeming as if I didn’t trust you.” March shakes her head. “Would you leave me if you found out I’d done terrible things in my past?” Dan Heng scowls at the absurdity of the thought. “Of course not.” “Then the same applies to you.” For all the times Dan Heng checkmates March in interstellar chess, she easily turns the tables on him whenever it comes to words. He sighs. “Alright. You win.” “Pft. This wasn’t a competition to begin with silly, but anyway here,” she says as she shifts closer, “use my shoulder as a pillow. You look tired, but I know you’ll refuse to lie down like every other time you’ve been told to rest.” Honestly, Dan Heng would be exasperated by how much she’s put him on the spot, but instead he’s endeared and acquiesces. March begins to softly hum a familiar tune, one of the many songs from the Express’s phonograph, as she starts repairing his coat. The task is monotonous, but the peace that follows is welcome.

[Screenshot is of the following from my V1.3 Reconciliation WIP for Caelus and Dan Heng from Honkai: Star Rail.] He sighs as he runs his free hand through his soaked hair. “Unfortunately, I wasn't in the right headspace to tell you that at the time—Honestly, I'm not all that much better now, but if anything… What I’m sure of is that you’ll always be Dan Heng to me. No matter what your past consists of or what you look like.”  Caelus is tired of sifting through so many what ifs on his emotions since meeting up with Kafka, but this? This is something he has never doubted. The silence that follows minus the rainfall makes him wonder if his companion didn’t hear him when the umbrella held over the Vidyadhara’s head suddenly shelters the Trailblazer as he’s enveloped in a tight hug. All at once he’s hit by the scent of petrichor sea and lotus flowers meshed with maple tea leaves and paper books. It leaves him stunned because Dan Heng has never initiated physical contact like this. Yet the sensation is so overwhelmingly soothing, it only takes seconds for Caelus to melt into his embrace and whisper, “I really missed you.” “I never left.” Yet Dan Heng’s hold tightens. All Caelus can do is nod. He can’t bring himself to ask if that applies to his wish of staying with the Astral Express. Especially when he recalls how the other was forced to reveal his identity. He instantly feels the minute tension in Dan Heng’s body that indicates he’s realized something. By the Aeons, why did they get so good at reading each other?! “Caelus… Did you think I was going to leave?” The Trailblazer knows that if he opens his mouth now, his selfishness will tumble out and he’s not sure how welcome it would be in this conversation. So he stays silent. Slowly, the Vidyadhara pulls back, his hands resting on either side of Caelus’ shoulders while cloudhymm magic keeps the umbrella steady over their heads. Dan Heng's teal gaze searches for answers as it meets gold. “Why?”
