Yes, speaking from Indiana, they can and they will. The White House is already pushing the state GOP into a mid-decade redistricting the majority of voters (Red AND Blue) don’t want. But it helps those who were there feel less alone. They can be proud that they at least will not stay silent. 💪🏻

And BEFORE they are IN school. Ten-ish years ago, kids waiting in restaurants or doctor’s offices or in cars or while Mommy was on the phone were coloring or looking at books or playing with toys or simply being BORED. Now? A screen. Parents justify it with “educational apps.” Not the same at all.

I read this headline and clicked through to the article thinking, “Please talk about smartphones. Please talk about smartphones.” Happy you did. I fear COVID will cloud the clear-to-teachers effect of smartphones/tablets on student academics until it’s too late.

Another issue is most current service models are “you’re in or you’re out” in nature. Give me all the money and make GT ed services like SpEd services - self-contained OR push-in OR pull-out. That model works(-ish) for SpEd, but GT is usually left with one option and it only works for some kids.

An education that meets the true needs of ALL students should be the goal. We would never oppose that for students requiring special education services. We acknowledge many flaws in current identification of SpEd students, but don’t push for abolishing the entire system. Same for gifted services.

The reason why people are calling school districts and demanding they fire the teachers (his definition of “disrupting the education process”) is because ROKITA HIMSELF personally amplifies individual’s posts on social media and ENCOURAGES people to call, email, and protest. He fans the flames.

Trump being sleazy and corrupt and creeping on teenage girls is baked in to the brand already. I don’t see anyone being so disgusted by this that they would have voted instead of staying home or switched a vote to Harris from Trump.

My husband was “banned” by his parents from the “children’s moment” as a little kid for a few weeks due to bad behavior. One Sunday, his dad said, “You can go up as long as you can be good!” He went up, but came back before it was finished. He loudly explained, “That’s as long as I could be good.” 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hated that when my kids were sick and most wanting comfort items like favorite blankets and pillows and stuffies I had to be all “Nope nope nopity nope.” But seriously. Trust me, Child. Nope. Nope. And more nope. 😒

The exhaustion of having little kids with a stomach bug…UGH. Sure, the physical lack of sleep, but your “mom radar” is on high-alert every moment for the first sign a kid is going to puke and your brain is all “Did I disinfectant THAT?” and “Do I feel okay myself?” and it’s a lot. Solidarity. ❤️

Feels like “but they can make the same if they do or don’t work” means we should push employers to pay more for an honest day’s work that improves their own bottom line than what government social safety net programs pay, but “blame the poor” keeps being the focus.

I teach in the Indiana public school district that is, by all state-approved measures, the top academic district - public or private - in the state. Year after year. But we still lose kids to vouchers. They go to - by the state’s definition - academically-inferior schools. But “competition,” right?

When my own kids were in elementary school, I used to take them to the Dollar Store to pick out a “special gift” of their choice for their teacher. Sometimes it’s hilarious to see what they think the teacher really wants, and that alone can be meaningful…but I always added a gift card from us, too!

I hate that it makes us sound greedy, but gift cards are perfect - especially to “generic” places like Amazon or Target. My school’s parent group solicits “Favorite Things” from all staff in my building (restaurants…snacks…drinks…school supplies…etc.) and sticks the list on their website.

Throw in some oyster crackers, label it all “DIY Communion” and you may be able to get away with it! 😂

“The perfect gift to ensure that your relatives who clutch their pearls when someone says ‘Happy Holidays!’ don’t overstay their welcome at your house!” 👍🏼

Okay, but one time on one day on one show isn’t going to change the narrative. TBH, I don’t know that Harris was the best messenger for this task, but it just wasn’t a message that was spoken loudly enough and clearly enough and often enough to those who needed to hear it.

Not in places and situations that were anything other than preaching to the choir, from what I saw.

Yes, but brunch foods fill a different compartment, so bring on the monkey bread and breakfast casserole. 👍🏼

My first thought. Could absolutely be convinced to play this game, TBH.

I don’t know, Doc. Doesn’t it just encourage kids to be sexually-promiscuous? I mean, last time I got the flu shot I just went around licking doorknobs because “Hey! No consequences!” #sarcasm #vaccinesareamazing

I was wrong that the mainstream/establishment GOP would be confident enough in what legitimate conservatism has to offer to Americans (whether or not I personally agree) that they would be steadfast in their opposition to Trump over the years and make him irrelevant back in 2016.
